Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming more valuable, with many of the companies featured in our list of the most innovative firms in 2022 having been at it for a while.

In 2018, LivePerson launched its first AI-powered bots. These bots act as human assistants for customers wanting to speak to a live agent.

Since 2009, Grammarly has been using machine learning to analyze and improve the quality of written communications. Its latest iteration lets it detect and address style and readability issues.

Among the most refined applications of AI are those that are already being used by companies. For instance, Eightfold AI uses data to help employees find relevant career opportunities.

AI has the potential to perform useful work, but it also has the potential to be abused or even harmful. To address this issue, many tech companies have created processes designed to identify and eliminate problematic aspects.

Grammarly

Due to the development of advanced AI, Grammarly has been able to analyze text for tone, overall readability, and overall tone. It then proposes full sentences that retain the intended meaning.

In addition, Grammarly has also kept up with the evolution of language by supporting nonbinary and neopronouns. In 2021, the company introduced new features that help its 30,000 workplace customers prioritize documents.

In September, the company introduced Grammarly for Developers, which allows developers to incorporate the company’s suggestions into their web apps.

Adobe

The company’s new neural filter features let users easily transform a photo subject’s expression into something more positive. They can also change the direction that the person is looking.

The new features are part of Adobe’s Sensei AI platform, which is a collection of machine learning technologies. They can perform various tasks, such as rendering parts of a person’s face that were previously unavailable.

The neural filter features were approved by an ethics committee and a review board, which are respectively tasked with assessing AI products for potential issues.

Darktrace

Darktrace’s self-learning AI learns to identify and respond to signs of abnormal behavior in an organization’s systems and people. One of its most notable achievements was stopping theREvil ransomware gang from stealing data from customers in 2021.

The company’s continuous development helped it expand its reach beyond email systems to include security solutions for factories and other facilities. In May 2021, Darktrace partnered with Microsoft to provide its security measures to the company’s more than 6,500 customers.

Immunai

One of the main factors that prevents new drugs from being developed is the failure rate of pharmaceutical research projects. Immunai aims to improve the process by using AI to analyze the human immune system.

In 2021, the company raised over $300 million in Series A and B rounds. It also acquired two computational biology companies.
